This month's good media idea comes to us from Saks Fifth Avenue and features an innovative out-of-home tactic: Projection Advertising. For the unveiling of their 2010 holiday window display at their store in New York City, Saks ran a 6 week 3D projection on the side of their building. It's a 2+ minute story showing the epic struggle between bubbles and snowflakes all set to music. You can watch it all below.
We love this idea because of its potential for high impact - if done right your brand will get noticed and may even go viral through social media. An important thing to consider is that this tactic is best for younger demos (18-34) as the projections are usually done in-town at night (obviously) reaching those with an active nightlife. This makes it perfect for retailers around the holidays when shoppers are out. Plus this tactic is more affordable than you would think. It is crucial for the media team and advertiser to get permits of course to do this. You can read more about what to think through when considering this advertising idea here.
