My entire career has been searching for the one job that I look forward to going to everyday and it has taken me 3 states and 20 years to find it. The quest is finally over and as the saying goes, good things, better yet, Good Media Ideas, come to those who wait.
I was told when I started I would have to do an introductory blog about myself and having done a blog on my own years ago, I was hoping I would remember how to do it. Thankfully I do.
The next thing was what am I going to write about? I thought about doing it like the back of baseball card at first, but then I remembered that baseball cards include "weight" and I really didn't want to go there. That is a story for another day and a 2016 New Years Resolution that has not been kept to this point (still 10 months to try and accomplish it).
So who am I? I'm the new Media Strategist at McCulloch + Company!
Now I am not going to give you a blow by blow of my entire life, because at 43 years old, I'm not sure I could type for that long to get it all out. From a work stand point, just know that I have crunched Nielsen numbers in New York City and sold TV and Radio advertising in Tennessee. I am a man of many talents and a master of none - except Media!
When I saw the opportunity with McCulloch I was intrigued to say the least. I had never worked at a media only shop, but it did offer me the opportunity to do both planning and buying, which for me work hand and hand and should not be separated. The office is also much closer to my house so I don't have to fight I-75 traffic everyday, which is a huge plus - especially since I drive a gas guzzling Ford Explorer.
When you hear an employer say that "you'll hit the ground running", you typically say sure, whatever...well not here. From day one it has been "go go go" and to be honest it has been a breath of fresh air and I've loved every single minute of it. When you surround yourself with great people, great atmosphere and great clients, it all just adds up to something great.
I moved to Atlanta 2 years ago after being in Tennessee for almost 20 years and yes, I am a Tennessee Volunteer fan and Alum. My family and I were perfectly happy in Knoxville, all was good, but sometimes you get stuck in a rut and don't realize that you really need a change, and this move was just what was needed for all of us. The last 2 years has been an absolute blessing for my family and me and now being with McCulloch, everything has finally fallen into place.
Now if being a Vol fan in Georgia wasn't tough enough, lets add in the fact that I am a die-hard New York Mets fan. However, with the current state of the Braves, I really don't have to worry too much about them right now. I am also a big hockey (New York Islanders) and soccer/futbol (Newcastle United) fan and I'm excited for the new MLS team, Atlanta United, to start play in 2017. I'll actually finally like a team in Atlanta.
My spare time is spent with my wife of almost 20 years, Heather, and our two daughters, Olivia (14) and Ava (3). My biggest passion beyond media is cooking and food. I am a real foodie and moving to a new city has been great for me. So many new places to explore and try and I know I haven't even put a dent in all the places I want to go.
It's great to be part of the McCulloch family and I look forward to working with all of our current and future clients to maneuver through the ever-changing media landscape.
